For instance, with the right combination blender and food processor, you can make your favorite strawberry daiquiri, salsa salad, or hot butternut squash soup. The Vitamix Eco5 is a larger version of the FC-50 FoodCycler. What a Wirecutter Editor (and Former Designer) Can’t Live Without at Home. “It’s true for blenders, food processors, toaster ovens, and air fryers. “There’s still a trend in small appliances where people prefer a multipurpose machine that can do it all,” says Marion Wilson-Spencer, a CR home testing market analyst. While blenders and food processors function differently and use different blades, the motors that power them are essentially the same, so they can share the same motor base and save you some room and even money, depending on which model you get. Odorless & Quiet: The carbon filter lid and quieter cycles make the FoodCycler FC-50 ideal for indoor use. Blender and food processor combos-which combine their capabilities into one appliance-perform well on both sets of tasks. After each cycle, simply put the removable waste bucket in the dishwasher for easy cleaning. But that doesn’t necessarily mean you have to shell out for two counter-hogging appliances. We concede that 630 seems like an extreme amount of money to spend on a blender, but the Vitamix Venturist V1200, with its whopping 10-year warranty and plethora of. While they both can expertly turn out purées and salsas, even the best food processors are lousy smoothie makers, and the best blenders won’t get far with shredding carrots. Here are some of the best sales we’re seeing now on Vitamix blenders. No matter how you slice it, there are limits to what blenders and food processors can do on their own. It’s also pricey, though admittedly you can buy a discounted Vitamix on Walmart or on Amazon during Black Friday. That said, it’s not perfect - mine takes up about 11” x 18” of counter space, you’ll need a tall space to store it, and it’s noisy. The Vitamix 5200 is an easy-to-use, easy-to-clean blender with the power and speed variation to handle any task. Best Blender For Smoothies: Nutribullet Blender. Best Personal Blender: Ninja Fit Personal Blender. Wirecutter named the Vitamix 5200 model (on sale for $399 for Black Friday on Amazon) the best blender and noted that “this high-performance machine blends more gracefully than any of the others, and Consumer Reports writes that “Vitamix blenders are worth the splurge” and very reliable compared to other blenders. Best Blender-Food Processor Combo: Ninja QB1004 Blender/Food Processor. That’s probably why it has such a loyal following: Gwyneth Paltrow and Kourtney Kardashian have been seen with a Vitamix, and MarketWatch’s Jeremy Olshan wrote about his love of the Vitamix here. It also can make hot soup and pulverize things into a silky smooth or a superfine powder, which I’ve found other blenders struggle to do. (Note that Vitamix blenders are on sale starting at under $200 on for Black Friday.) Now, hundreds of smoothies, soups, purees, milkshakes and sauces later, I get why Vitamix costs a pretty penny: It can break down ice cubes, frozen strawberries, nuts, entire pieces of fruit and just about anything else you put in it in a matter of moments. Before becoming acquainted with my Vitamix eight years ago, I thought the company had a lot of nerve charging upwards of $450 for their self-described high performance blender.

![]() And finally, by building and deploying AI responsibly, so that everyone can benefit equally.Third, by enabling developers and businesses to build their own transformative products and services.Second, by boosting creativity and productivity, so you can express yourself and get things done.First, by improving your knowledge and learning, and deepening your understanding of the world. And looking ahead, making AI helpful for everyone is the most profound way we’ll advance our mission. It's a timeless mission that feels more relevant with each passing year. This gives us so many opportunities to deliver on our mission - to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. And six of those products serve over 2 billion users each. Today, we have 15 products that each serve more than half a billion people and businesses. And there's so much more we can do to deliver the full potential of AI across the products you know and love. We’re excited to roll out Magic Editor in Google Photos later this year.įrom Gmail and Photos to Maps, these are just a few examples of how AI can help you in moments that matter. This also changes the lighting in the rest of the photo so the edit feels consistent. As a finishing touch, you can punch up the sky. Magic Editor automatically recreates parts of the bench and balloons that were not captured in the original shot. And it looks like the balloons got cut off in this one, so you can go ahead and reposition the birthday boy. Here’s an example: This is a great photo, but as a parent, you probably want your kid at the center of it all. And later this year, using a combination of semantic understanding and generative AI, you can do much more with a new experience called Magic Editor. For example, Magic Eraser, launched first on Pixel, uses AI-powered computational photography to remove unwanted distractions. AI advancements give us more powerful ways to do this. In fact, every month, 1.7 billion images are edited in Google Photos. Of course, we want you to do more than just search photos - we also want to help you make them better. Breakthroughs in machine learning made it possible to search your photos for things like people, sunsets or waterfalls. We introduced it at I/O in 2015, and it was one of our first AI-native products. Immersive View for routes will begin to roll out over the summer, and launch in 15 cities by the end of the year, including London, New York, Tokyo and San Francisco.Īnother product made better by AI is Google Photos. You can check air quality, traffic and weather, and see how they might change. You can zoom in to get an incredible bird’s eye view of the ride. It’s an entirely new way to look at your journey. The one on the waterfront looks scenic, but you want to get a feel for it first, so you click on Immersive View for routes. Maps has given you a couple of options close to where you are. Say you’re in New York City and you want to go on a bike ride. With Immersive View for routes you can, whether you're walking, cycling or driving. Now imagine if you could see your whole trip in advance. ![]() Google Maps provides 20 billion kilometers of directions, every day - that’s a lot of trips. Now, we’re expanding that same technology to do what Maps does best: help you get where you want to go. At last year’s I/O we introduced Immersive View, which uses AI to create a high-fidelity representation of a place, so you can experience it before you visit. Since the early days of Street View, AI has stitched together billions of panoramic images, so people can explore the world from their device. And just like with Smart Compose, you’ll see it get better over time. “Help me write” will start rolling out as part of our Workspace updates. In this case, a more elaborate email might increase the chances of getting the refund. It looks pretty close to what you want to send, but maybe you want to refine it further. It conveniently pulls in flight details from the previous email. Just type in the prompt of what you want - an email that asks for a full refund - hit create, and a full draft appears. You could reply, and use “Help me write.” The airline has sent a voucher, but what you really want is a full refund. Let’s say you got an email that your flight was canceled. And now, with a much more powerful generative model, we’re taking the next step in Gmail with “Help me write.” They’ve been used in Workspace over 180 billion times in the past year alone. Smart Compose led to more advanced writing features powered by AI. Next came Smart Compose, which offered writing suggestions as you type. In 2017, we launched Smart Reply, short responses you could select with just one click. There are some great examples of how generative AI is helping to evolve our products, starting with Gmail. As a result, the shortcuts were also reorganized (the famous keyboard shortcuts in Blender) with a new mapping, but offering both the ability to keep one still compatible with Blender 2.7x and to choose a keymap similar to other competing applications that are now the industry standard. One of the novelties in Blender 2.8 was certainly the user interface, where attempts were made to sort and rationalize all the features that were added in previous versions. ![]() The best it can do is “Please don’t make me go back to your place,” “So long my favorite person,” and “I just need a city to love,” and Botnik make a passionate if an incompetent attempt at making it seem like NYC 2001. AI bots are creating several rock songs in this AI era. The rock world has also been subjected to such abuse. Jay-Z, for example, had to take action against YouTubers who posted phony videos of him rapping Billy Joel tunes and Hamlet monologues. Plus, owing to programs that can absorb an artist’s whole body of work and produce new instances based on the patterns it discovers, the deep fake art has developed. Meanwhile, artists like Holly Herndon and Francois Pachet have collaborated with artificial intelligence on albums. Advertisements and video games frequently avoid copyright and licensing difficulties by making their soundtracks with programs like Jukebox and Amper, which generate music based on mood, pace, and genre. Though Alan Turing’s efforts with computer-generated melodies date back to 1951, and David Bowie, an English singer-songwriter, was experimenting with computerized lyric randomizers in the 1990s, AI songs have only lately come into their own. The voyage got back on track and Magellan managed to navigate a treacherous passage that’s now named in his honor-the Strait of Magellan. He ordered some of the mutineers beheaded and quartered others were marooned or forced into hard labor. The captain struggled to regain control of his men, but once he did, the repercussions were swift and harsh. One ship wrecked another ditched the expedition altogether and headed back to Spain. “The Castilians resented sailing under a Portuguese commander and the Portuguese considered him a traitor,” writes historian Lincoln Paine.Īfter winter weather forced his ships to wait for months in what is now Argentina, Magellan’s crew mutinied. But he was in an awkward position when it came to his majority-Spanish crew and his royal mission. The captain stood to gain great wealth and status from the trip: Charles gave him a decade-long monopoly on any route he might discover, a cut of the profits, and a noble title to boot. So he abandoned his Portuguese loyalty and headed to Spain, where he gained both citizenship and Charles V’s blessing for a five-ship journey westward. Magellan was convinced that by sailing west instead of east and going through a rumored strait through South America, he could map a new route to Indonesia and India. But his days in service to Portugal were numbered: He was accused of illegal trading and fell out with Manuel I, who turned down his proposal to locate a new spice route. In 1505, Magellan joined the fight, traveling to India, Malaysia, and Indonesia. But the young man had a sense of adventure, and took part in a string of Portuguese voyages designed to discover and seize lucrative spice routes in Africa and India.Īt the time, Portugal and Spain were involved in an intense rivalry to see who could find and claim new territory where they could source the spices coveted by European aristocrats. As a page to queen consort Eleanor and Manuel I, he experienced court life in Lisbon. The Portuguese nobleman was born Fernão de Magalhães around 1480. “It sounded suicidal to do this,” says Bergreen. At the beginning of his journey, his contemporaries suspected it was impossible to sail around the entire globe-and feared that everything from sea monsters to killer fogs awaited anyone foolhardy enough to try. “That’s not hyperbole.”īrutal, bellicose, and brave, Magellan turned a commercial voyage into a hair-raising showdown with a wide world few Europeans could imagine. His journey was “the greatest sea voyage ever undertaken, and the most significant,” says historian Laurence Bergreen, author of Over the Edge of the World: Magellan’s Terrifying Circumnavigation of the Globe. Overall, their defense wasn’t that bad given they held OKC to 38.2 percent from the field and 13.3 percent from deep. SGA will likely experience double teams given he was either scoring or setting up teammates so Ty Lue will be determined to get the ball out of his hand. Ultimately whether Paul George returns or not the Thunder will be looking to replicate their Tuesday performance. The other areas OKC capitalized on were points scored off turnovers (23 to 3) and points scored in the paint (62 to 48). The Thunder absolutely dominated the offensive glass pulling down 21 offensive rebounds compared to seven for LA and won the total rebound battle (60-47).
